Waste Dive Features Viridi’s Maine Digester Project

Waste Dive recently covered Viridi’s acquisition of a legacy biosolids digester plant in Brunswick, Maine. For this project, the Viridi team will be working in close partnership with Casella Waste Systems, who will manage feedstock collection and delivery logistics for an estimated 85,000 tons of biosolids per year collected from a network of area wastewater treatment plants. The project marks a major step in offering a sustainable, cost-effective waste solution that complies with Maine’s new biosolids management rules.

Viridi President and COO Chet Benham spoke to Waste Dive Editor Jacob Wallace about how the partnership with Casella will deliver a much-needed solution for addressing the state’s current waste management hurdles: “We’re bringing to bear engineering best practices, operational best practices, anaerobic digestion expertise, coupled with stable, consistent supply from Casella to get the project revamped and become part of the solution for Maine’s biosolids challenges.”
